Year 7 have recently been on a trip to Chester Zoo as part of their attendance reward. Year 7 have been involved in an Extended Learning project and the theme was the Zoo. In order to increase students attendance and give students an incentive to arrive on school on time it was decided that if students worked hard and were well behaved then they would be offered the chance to go to Chester Zoo.
64 students rose to this challenge and attended the trip to Chester Zoo, where they spent a full day looking around at all the animals and observing the manner in which they behave.
All year 7 were extremely well behaved and represented the school in a very positive way. All students and staff had a lot of fun during their time at the zoo.

Buile Hill Perform at the Lowry Centre |
|
Congratulations to Mia Smith and Lucy Whittle in Year 10 who were selected to perform in a concert at the Lowry Centre showcasing the best talent in Salford schools. A number of schools entered and performend at the Lowry Centre, but both girls from Buile Hill stole the show and did the school proud with their performances. mia sang "Listen" by Beyonce Knowles and Lucy sang "Songbird" by Eva Cassidy, both performances were fabulous and show just how hard the girls work and what dedication and passion they have towards singing. Well done girls!

On Thursday 8th January 2009 Mrs Closs' PSHE group 9Y3, and Miss Carvell's PSHE group, 9Y2, took park in a mock election . Last term the learnt about elections in their PSHE lessons. This included topics like elections, voting systems, political parties, policies campaigning and government. They then used all the knowledge they had gained to create their own political party and policies. Their task was to create a political party that would represent the students of Buile Hill High School within the school community. Each class created their own party and policies. 9Y3 were called "Blazer Crew" and 9Y2 were called "The Buile Hill Brother Hood". Each party came up with their own policies and campaign. This included fantastic posters, rosettes, flyers, chants, raps and persuasive speeches that outlined their policies and why students at Buile Hill should vote for them.
On Election Day the two parties unleashed their campaigns on a group of Year 7 pupils and teachers. After both parties had given their speeches the Year 7 pupils and teachers were given a voting slip and asked to vote for the party who they thought had the best policies and campaign. After a few recounts the winner was finally announced... The Buile Hill Brother Hood won by three votes.
Both parties did really well and learnt a lot about elections and different political parties and policies.
